The Parent Voice Project brings parents with kids currently in child care right to the table of state child care policy. And that parent voice could be yours! The project supports six parents to serve on the state Childcare and Educating Coordinating Council, a body that advises the State Childcare Administrator (there is one?) on, you guessed it, child care policy. There are some time requirements and, of course, an application to submit. To learn more and see if this role is a good fit for you or a fellow urban Mama or Papa, the Oregon Childcare Resource and Referral Network has the scoop and the application. In addition to providing loads of useful info on child care in Oregon, including the 2006 market rate study that examines child care costs across the state, there is an advocacy page that might interest you. Add your voice to the mix!
