Are you a mom? Are you feeling overwhelmed by the realities of motherhood? You are not alone! Please join us in a counseling process and support group for mothers with children 8 years old or younger. Group meetings will focus on the emotional exploration of the idea of motherhood and the disconnect with the reality of what motherhood really means.
Group will be cofacilitated by Alison Stawicki, MS, NCC, a professional adult individual counselor and Lindsay McGrath, MS, a professional marriage and family therapist.
Our therapy group will have two Thursday evening offerings meeting from 6-7:30 and from 7:30-9 at the Wise Counsel and Comfort offices (www.portland-therapist.com), 423 NE 60th Ave. Portland, OR 97213. Starting date will be determined.
$20 per meeting, 8 weeks of meetings.

Hey all, I'm a new mom to a 6 week baby boy and one of the first of my friends to have a baby so I have a shortage of talking to others I can relate/vent/have fun with that also have a child attached to their side! This past weekend I put together my first ever Green Cleaners workshop for a few of my mom friends. I started making all my own cleaners a while ago using nontoxic ingredients, and have been really pleased with both their effectiveness and how the house smells when I clean. I also feel really good about not using any harsh chemicals that can be absorbed through the skin or having dangerous fumes be inhaled by the kids (or me, for that matter). I had a lot of fun doing this, and really enjoy helping others make their homes just a little bit safer.

Nursing Mothers Counsel of Oregon has partnered with the Lavender Tea House In Sherwood for a NMC High Tea in the month of May, Tuesday-Friday because the weekends are already booked! We are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping mothers have a good breastfeeding relationship with their babies. We provide free breastfeeding information, low cost pump sales and rentals, and in-home lactation consultation for those with limited access to care. Our volunteers are trained to provide mama-to-mama peer counseling. Through our free help-lines, classes, website, pumps and training, we help approximately 12,500 women per year! With our help, breastfeeding rates in Oregon have ranked at the top of the nation from 2001 - 2004, the most recent years data is available. In our efforts to provide this support to families, we rely solely on grants and donations from the community.
